Mayuka Sarukkai is a Senior Data Scientist at Recidiviz. Previously, she worked on a sociology research initiative developing computational approaches to measure urban neighborhood change. In the past, she spearheaded the development of text analytics for external-facing communications at the U.S. Census Bureau, and built tech tools to support housing justice advocacy for tenants facing eviction at JustFix.nyc. In her free time, she dances, musics, and drinks inordinate amounts of earl grey tea. Mayuka holds an M.S. in Management Science and Engineering with a focus in Computational Social Science, and a B.S. in Symbolic Systems, from Stanford University.
A diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace is essential to our mission. People come to Recidiviz to contribute to an urgent cause, and to work alongside incredible coworkers who care as much as they do. To ensure that we’re building intentional products and amplifying the work of others in the reform ecosystem, we are committed to fostering a diverse team that reflects the people we serve.
We combine the efficiency of a tech company with the heart of a non-profit. Recidiviz began as a volunteer project at Google and has since grown into one of the brightest, kindest teams that civic tech has to offer. Our north star: safely and fairly shrinking the criminal justice system.
