We’re looking for people with ambition, a sense of urgency, and talents in design, product, engineering, data, operations, and more. We welcome people who want to do work that matters with colleagues who care.
It’s frustrating when something’s dropped, or doesn’t land quite right, but everyone on the team is excellent. When something goes wrong, begin with curiosity and the assumption that we are all doing our best.
We aim to be humble and kind in all of our interactions. Whether you’re speaking to a Corrections director, a probation officer, a colleague, or someone on parole, take care to show that working with companies can be genuine and collaborative.
As a small team, it’s important that we stretch a little more than usual to try to solve any new problems we come across, rather than hoping someone else will get it — whether it’s a bug in the product or spilled cereal in the office.
We can only succeed as a team when each member is able to proactively and independently navigate obstacles. Each of us must understand what wild success looks like in our role, embrace discomfort, and creatively unstick ourselves—even when it means seeking help from others.
Celebrate learning from failure and encourage blameless criticism in the name of collective growth. Set clear action items for improvement and seek opportunities to stretch ourselves. When something goes off the rails, debrief and learn from it.

We know that interviewing can be challenging, exhausting, and at times frustrating. At Recidiviz, we have a few guiding principles around interviews to help make the process as painless as possible:
We avoid trick questions and instead ask questions that are tailored to get at specific skill sets that are important for success in the role
We aspire to remove bias from the process by using structured interview questions and objective grading and criteria
We try our best to get back to candidates within a week after interviews
We train all interviewers in inclusive, effective interviewing techniques, offer a range of accommodations (just ask!), and have multiple decision makers at every stage of the process
While our hiring process varies by role, applicants can expect some or all of the following interview stages:
30 minute intro call with a member of the people operations team, to dive deeper into your work experience
45 minute technical interview or take-home project and follow-up interview to dive deeper into your technical expertise
3-4 video interviews to dive deeper into your working style and experience
A decision on your candidacy within a few days after each stage
I do this work in honor of my family and all the people who should be free and safe in the arms of their family.
